Description

Metaballs instanced as particles do not render

Windows b. 27670

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add particle system to default cube
2. Add metaball to the scene somewhere out of camera view
3. Under the "Render" section of the particle setting select Object and then choose your metaball to be instanced.
4. Play your animation to a frame of your choosing.
5. Render
6. Note that no metaballs appear in the render.

(The same steps followed with a mesh instead of a metaball will result in rendered meshes)

Hello,

Not sure if this can be considered as a bug or not. In fact everything works OK, but the default particles size being 0.05, the dupli objects doesn't show. Increase particle size and they will show up.

In fact even with a small particle size but that result in metaballs bigger than a few pixels the metaballs won't render.

I seems these metaballs loose "resolution" according to paricle size (if you choose a small particle size like 0.1 or 0.75 metaballs will apear like piramids). As a workaround you can scale the original metaballs directly and set particle size around 1.

No bug here as far as I can see, just unintuitive behavior.
