Description

When you change the start frame of the simulation to something else than 1 the smoke gets shown before that frame.

Tested in
Blender 2.55.0 r32738
Blender 2.55.1 r33530

I attached a file with a basic setup. It was created in Blender 2.55.1 r33530 and when I open it with the other version Blender crashes o.O Can someone confirm this?

Because the file can't be opened by other Blender Versions, I made a new one.
I also found out, that in other Blender versions the bug is slightly different:
Instead of showing the smoke before it gets simulated, you see the last visible smoke there was. So if you just hit play on the timeline and the animation finishes and gets replayed you will see the smoke of the last frame instead of the first simulated frame.

@Nathan / Ton -> Thanks for the speedy feedback.

Ton -> While I understand your reasoning, it would perhaps then be best not to update the preview with these results.
In the preview it shows that the texture is actually patterned, which is not the case when rendering the file, so then I guess my bug report has now changed to the view instead of the settings:)

Fix committed, thanks for the report! "show last visible smoke" was indeed a bug, that I fixed at some point, so this is still showing in the older versions.

I'll see what can be done about the "crash on load" in your other report.
