I'm running Blender as a binary and when I zoom in or out on an object it has a lot of lag. The zoom works using the roller ball of the mouse. 4 gigs of ram. I'm using the binary because the install does not work.

I use Blender on a Mac 1 gig or ram running Lion and using Windows 7 and all is good.

Any ideas?

I'm running xf86-video-nouveau with 1 1 gig nvidia video card

Roller ball scrolls very slow I'm running Blender using Gentoo Linux -

Uh… you were saved by the gong!

More than likely some issue with your driver, you may try to disable VBO or other graphic-related settings in user preferences -> System tab…

Btw, I assume you tried with Blender 2.70?

Oh, and you can also try to run Blender with the softwaregl script featured with official release…

Use the proprietary nvidia driver instead of the nouveau one, this is probably the issue.

Blender heavily relies on a proper OpenGL support by the GPU/GPU driver, if that is malfunctioning, Blender will not work properly. Not much we can do here.
