Thats not enough info, we need a blend file and exact steps to reproduce. Blender has a lot of "user settings".

Make sure your Drivers and OS is up to date!

My drivers and os are up to date.

I didn't give more info because it happened while I was going from one tab to the other in the users settings (ctrl-alt+u). If I modify the settings fast, nothing happens; if I leave the window open "too long" the systems freezes.

It happened twice in a row. I shut down my computer the hard way, restarted it, went again in the users settings and it happened again. I shut down my computer, restarted it, went back to the users settings and this time I made changes very fast and shut down the window and everything went fine.

Sorry, I cannot say more.

This report is far too vague to be resolved on our side.
Applications should not be able to lockup the entire system - so this is almost certainly a bug the systems drivers (or the OS).

Closing since we need some reproducible error.
