Description

Blender Version
Broken: 2.78

Short description of error
When I render an animation, in some frames(like frame 24, which is depicted below) there is a piece cut out. This bug eventually vanished after increasing the distance between camera and plane by about 20, but it's still weird and annoying.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Download the .blend and Render. You can scroll through other frames and will find this artifact appearing again when rendering

Uuuh… weird, looks like a triangulation issue. Not sure what happens here, in viewport rendering shows no issue, and your scene does not use insane scaling or nearly-coplanar faces, so…

As a workaround for now, looks like triangulating the problematic plane (Image one, e.g. with a modifier) fixes the bug.

Wow… indeed…
Will close the report as known issue then, tbh it’s very unlikely it ever gets fixed now, since we plan to remove Blender Internal from Blender2.8 (to be replaced by real-time OpenGL Eevee). Thanks anyway!

but I like BI because it is fast and not focused on realism, which is exactly what I need for my visualiser.
Will Eevee be able to deliver the same speed?
