Description

System Information
Operating system: Linux Mint 19 Tara
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GT 630

Blender Version
Broken:
2.80 (sub 35), branch: blender2.8, commit date: 2018-12-05 23:00, hash: c0a71b8369a

Short description of error
When i change the window type of a window to "User Preferences", i can't change again, because there is no exit button. The only way to get rid of the window is by dragging another window type onto it - or by closing Blender.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Switch a window to "User Preferences". Gotcha! Black hole user preferences :)

Worst case: Drag outliner onto Properties and 3D onto outliner. Now you have only the top bar and a 3D window. Turn the 3D window into user preferences. Hehehe...

There actually are other ways out of it, like the Shift+Fxx shortcuts (e.g. Shift+F5 for 3D View).

Technically, this is not a bug since this works just the way it was designed. However, a bigger redesign is done in T54115 and the editor switch button is being discussed there as well.

Closing this report.

I just noticed that the "exit" is at the window bottom. So it's just bad design. Sorry for the irritation. Task closed ;)

The task status is for our internal management of reports. Resolved is only used for valid reports that were fixed by changes in code.
Changing back to Invalid.
