bug in Cycles: rendering the scene, an object is not corresponding with the real mesh position

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

My guess is that this might be caused by something going wrong with displacement (and linking possibly)
But as this is just a guess: could you share the blendfile (could be stripped down to the object in question...)?
(this ensures we are all on the same page when looking into this...)
