Description

System Information
Operating system: OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6
Graphics card:NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256MB
Memory: 8gig RAM

Blender Version
Broken: Version 2.80 (2.80 2019-03-24, Blender Foundation)
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
The display of the Shading workspace is glitchy... the two globes in LookDev mode show as solid black and when rotating the viewport they have a solid white "shadow". Adding a material has no effect. Adding a new material has no effect when changing Base colour in the Principled shader for example. This is also true of all modes... Solid, LookDev and Rendered. Material shading has no effect. And the white "shadows" break up and disappear when rotating the view.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

I have a feeling it just may be a limitation of my Mac hardware. But I just want to be sure since I have downloaded multiple builds and they all display this way.

Please check if your GPU driver is up to date.

Furthermore, it would be helpful if you make a short screen recording that shows the problem.

On macOS it's not possible to upgrade graphics drivers on their own, only upgrading the operating system as a whole. We've had some reports before about NVIDIA GPUs and macOS 10.11, which do not happen in newer macOS versions. We might drop support for 10.11 and lower due to too buggy drivers, it has not been decided yet.

T60179 might be the same issue. It can help to try to narrow down the issue, like disabling Eevee features, removing lights, disabling shadows, ... to see what exactly causes the problem.

Thanks Brecht -
I will definitely update my OS as soon as possible. In the meantime I've attached a screen share video showing the issue. (hopefully its not me just being stupid :)
Thanks again,
D

Looks like the same issue with the white cube.
