Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 7 SP1, 64-bit, i5-4670K
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

Blender Version
blender-2.80 branch

Short description of error
Color Space setting under the Texture Tab is ignored under certain circumstances, which seem to be filename dependant (-diffuse, -normal) but also format dependent regardless of OCIO configuration.

Possible Solution
Create documentation on the hard coded color spaces and keep the behavior for newcomers but allow a checkbox to disable hard code settings to rely completely on OCIO configuration.

Cycles currently only uses the settings on the image texture node. We plan to unify it so it respects the setting on the image datablock like the rest of Blender, but this is not considered a bug.

Works on this is planned for T54659: Move and share Eevee / Cycles render settings.

There is no filename dependent behavior for Cycles color spaces.

Sorry I think I have been misunderstood, I haven't name Cycles here (for that I created this other ticket T63572), I'm talking about Blender 3D View and internal behavior.

Here's a video showing that png file is hardcoded as sRGB, while a tiff (or exr) changes according to Color Space setting. Not only that, a tiff with a "-diffuse" suffix wil also be hardcoded as sRGB. Please confirm.

We require exact instructions to reproduce bugs. That means a .blend file and I guess the custom OCIO config file that you are using?

I will send a file and instructions tomorrow with more time starting from a blank install and OCIO config.

From a fresh and updated to 14th of April Blender install, default config.ocio.

Simply Download latest Blender for Win64, load textures and repeat the process of the video.

Textures can be any TIFF or PNG but for comparison purposes I also uploaded the sRGB charts.

I see T54659 is considered high priority. In my opinion this ticket should be handled alongside for proper OCIO colorspace workflow from start to finish.
When you have time please review the video.

As far as I know this is resolved now, I can reopen the report if it's not.
