Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.17763 64 Bits
Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Intel 4.4.0 - Build 20.19.15.5063

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 57), branch: blender2.7, commit date: 2019-04-17 19:26, hash: rBb46245470f79
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Blender 2.80 - Intel HD Graphics Glitch: Reference Image "cover" objects instead of appearing under them (but only in Windows 10)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In Windows 10 a strange thing happens: The reference image that I use to model is seen "above" the objects, covering them entirely. Instead, with the same PC but in Ubuntu Mate, this doesn't happen. I attach textual debug files and also several screens (from #001 to #004) showing the bug found. Instead the screenshot #005 shows the same file opened in Ubuntu Mate but with build version of Blender 2.80 released on April 22.

I can confirm this Bug.
Like @Francesco Sorrentino (zeirus) said, happens only on Windows.
My specs:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 (1809) 64 Bits
  • Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Intel 5500 (with same driver)

I have watched somewhat related issue T60484 which seems solved the issue for linux, but not for windows.

This happens too even when there is an intersection between Reference Image and an object.

Ok. Thanks to your help I found a trick to terminate the project in Windows without going to Linux: I set "Depth" to "Back" and even if the objects that go under the reference image line do not disappear, at least I can work keeping the image active . However I found another bug: by moving the offset values with the buttons, the value of 0.50 does not change but the image moves anyway. I assume that the thousandths (eg 0.501 - 0.502 etc.) are not displayed.

@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht).
Sorry to intervene, Even though I am not OP but I have this problem too.
This bug can be reproduced with the default scene:

And I suspect that this bug appears on Intel HD Graphics (only Windows).

Hi Brecht,
Please find attached file .blend with screenshot

Here is the driver I used for Windows 10 64 bit
Intel HD Driver

Here the specification of my PC barebone

Thanks for the attention

Can you update your video drivers from intel's website?

Hi Clement. I have used the latest drivers on the official Intel site.

Version: 15.40.42.5063
(Latest) Date: 3/19/2019

These specific drivers have not been updated by Intel:

Just for letting you know, That this issue doesn't exist anymore on my Windows environment (Windows 10, Intel HD Graphics 5500, driver 20.19.15.5063 date 10/29/2018) which I believe is the same as @Francesco Sorrentino (zeirus) 's graphic card. but I am not talking on behalf of the OP here.
