Short description of error
For camera view with background image enabled, clicking on empty space in the viewport selects the camera. If image depth is set to 'front', then camera is selected before anything else under the cursor.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Switch to camera view.
Add background image.
Try selecting something.

I can not reproduce this on my end with the steps provided.

Yes, it still happens on 07.10 build. Here's my settings:
