Short description of error

i added the meta human rig which should have all the bone and rig groups set up and did nothing but position the bones without adding them to my character model just to get a basic idea of where to put them and i then clicked generate new rig and this error set (image attached) came up and i cant get around it and i dont know why

google is no help and other forums are dead ends

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

what i did was i added the meta human rig (with the face bits not the simple one but the complex one) and moved the bones to where they should be and then clicked "generate new rig"

Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

i am using the steam version of blender if that helps any but that should not matter

OK so why does it work in the new version with blender 2.79 daily build but not in my current version as i have the exact same version of rigify as this one

i just have a few addons like the SFM import addon and the make human addon installed as well as FLIP fluids

I don't know the cause of the problem you have. But whatever it was, it appears to be fixed in the latest build which means it will be fixed in the next release and there is nothing for us left to do here.

well i am still re doing the rig in the new one as i have to double check and will get back to you if the new rig works like the test one where all i did was spawn it

i am moving the bones again in the new rig to the proper places without changing parenting order or properties just location and rotation i will get back to you if it works or not

ok so i got it to work so yea its something to do with that version of blender tho i wish rigify was more robust

ok so when i add bones to the rig in any way or change a simple parenting arraingment it breaks it completely

all i did was add a few new bones to the chest and to the feet and redo the face to better fit the character by changing and disconnecting a few bones

WHY CANT IT JUST WORK

@david law (Ponlets) This is not a user support forum, it is a bug tracker for Blender developers. Since the bug has already been fixed we cannot do anything else.

how is the screen cap i sent signs its been fixed

the base meta rig works fine but if one adds a few new bones it breaks

it works if you remove bones but not if one adds bones

so it should work both ways and therefore is not fixed

The screen cap you show is from an old version of Blender. Fixes don't magically appear in old versions of Blender. The new version will be released soon (hopefully next week), and before that you can test with daily builds from https://builder.blender.org/download/

the screen cap with the red lettering with the info window open is the latest daily build with no third party addons

this is the latest daily build for 2.79 and its not working and i cant verify if the rig systems are stronger and smarter in 2.8 but the other issue is that they all changed the hot keys and other bits in 2.8 making it like one has to restart again with the education nulifying alot of udemy classes i have

All the development is focused on 2.80. We simply don't have the people to keep working on older releases too.
