Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 64bit
Graphics card: GTX 1060 6Gb (Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver 430.86)
32Gb DDR4 RAM
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 8-core

Short description of error
Randomly crashes with a black screen. Has worked for a few hours before crashing, sometimes it is every 5 minutes. I have all drivers updated, and have scaled back with the graphics card drivers from the NVIDIA website, have uninstall and reinstalled Blender, and also installed a previous version, but the problem persists.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Unsure. It is random when it crashes. I have included the system info file in the attachments{F7590931}

It crashed within the first 2 minutes, with exactly the same black screen issue

Tried again a few times today, but still the same problem

Any advice at all?

Unfortunately random crashing is not enough information to investigate the issue. We need exact steps to reproduce the crash, there is no explanation of what you were doing when it crashed.

Please also mention which exact Blender build you tested.

I am using the Win64 daily build from 11/07, and I was making a 3D object. Sometimes crashes when just moving around the image, sometimes it is when I am in the node editor

I am having the same problem with version 2.91 using a GeForce RTX 3070, latest drivers, latest Windows 10 update. 12/19/2020. I have been experiencing this problem on a brand new computer for a couple of weeks. Most of the time, when the screen goes black, the system does not recover and I need to manually restart the computer. Sometimes the screen will return, but if Blender was running when it happens, it will be closed. This has happened to me twice in the last 10 minutes. I was in solid-view mode, renderer set to Evee, but not rendering anything. I have recorded about 10 of these black-screen events this week. I have already completed a clean reinstall of my NVidia driver. I am attaching my system info from Blender, I don't believe it generated any crash reports, but please let me know if I'm wrong about that.

I'm also getting blackscreen crashes but only when i'm using blender while watching a video on VLC on my secondary screen (a blender course typically). It also crash the rendering of VLC and a few other opened apps. It's quite frequent, maybe 3 to 10 times an hour.
I switched to another media player (WMP) and it stopped crashing.

(Blender 2.91.2, Windows 10, updated Nvidia driver, RTX 3070)

I'm also experiencing the same issue. But only while I'm rendering and simultaneously watching a YouTube video on Chrome at the same time.

I'm doing a Luxcore render and have dual GPU's, RTX 3070 running at PCIe 3.0 X8 and GTX 1660 Ti running at PCIe 3.0 X4 on a Asus B450-E. And have dual monitors both connected to the GTX 1660 Ti. Black screen happens with the GPU's either stock or overclocked. Also Luxcore uses both GPU's and the CPU at the same time.

I was thinking maybe my PSU can't keep up with power spikes during rendering. But after seeing someone else having the same issue I'm not certain.

Also everything is running at acceptable temps, GPU's 61-67°C and CPU 74°C.

Edit: It also happens during normal use and even if I use one GPU at a time.
Also fyi, "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" in Windows is off.
