Short description of error
When hitting Space, to bring up the search menu, an I search for 'Load Background Image' and I open it, Blender freezes, and opens the file selection menu after a minute or so.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Space (or whatever shortcut you use to bring up the search bar) --> 'Load Background Image' --> FREEZE

I can't reproduce the problem on Windows-10-10.0.18936 64 Bits.

This is most likely due to a slow or disconnected network or external drive, where Blender is waiting for it to time out.

Yep. That must be the case. Just checked, and now it works instantly.

If this is a known issue, to prevent blender from freezing can be a TODO.
But since it is not a priority, archived.
