Operating system: Macbook pro - *A: PC AMD
Graphics card: yes - *A: GTX 1060

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c044, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error

I've set up a scene in blender. The file works fine but I can't right click or use and keyboards shortcuts in the 3d space. It works fine in node editor, right bar and everywhere else except the 3d space. Have I accidentally pressed something to turn them off? I've check user preferences and everything is fine there and opened a new file where the keyboard and mouse works. Not sure what I've done
*A : no just can make blind (eye icon) option nothing more.. and go to any menu but no move/pan..etc with mouse .. keyboard limited to TAB ONLY.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

  • You have not mentioned which blender version you are using [is this with the RC?]
  • please also mention OS version, etc
  • does this happen with all files (or just a particular one)?
  • does this happen if you load factory settings? (File > Defaults > Load factory Settings)?

Please download Blender 2.80 RC1 from https://www.blender.org/download/ or lastest Daily Build at end of download page, your Blender 2.80Beta is outdated. Check if this bug persist.

IMHO, i supposed you run Blender 2.80edbf15d3c044 on hardware and/or software that not meet Blender minimum requirement, please double check it or upload here your System-Info file made with Help/Save System Info item.

Hey I thought I did mention, I'm using 2.79. It's only happening with this file so guess I must've changed a setting on this particular file, every other file I have is ok

[tried opening that in 2.8 btw.? or appending the scene into a new file in 2.79?]

solved problem !!! : keyboard freeze on default screen
i don't know how?.. but as i re-read the problem, i watch about 3D space .. ok.. then i go on an other screen as compositing.. and i see that i can use my keyboard ! (??) and of course i come back to the 3D space .. and that's it ! all recovered ! (miracle ?)
Then i quit and come back to my test file.. and ok .. all ok .. i can "pan" (shortcut) in 3Dspace ..
I was in default screen at start.

NO KEYBOARD ! no shortcuts ! .. why ?
computer: win10 PRO 64b - GTX160 6Go - AMD PhenomII X4 955 proc - 8Go RAM
motherboard ASUS - M5A97 PRO

last TESTed with blender-2.80.0-git.8c618371507f-windows64 AND RC2 32bit- any .blend files, same effects ...

  • in same time it's OK for the 2.79b ver !

hi all ! and thank U for Your hard work !

I constat that sometimes on new version my keyboard doesn't go right ! .. as if i got no keyboard ! (means no shortcuts also !)
no matter with a wireless keyboard ! i tested with a normal USB keyboard .. and i can't use it !
This happened for some 2.79b ver and now with RC2,
as yesterday i got RC1 which was ok .. !

it appears on numerous version (2.79 or the last RC2) that
as the default screen (3D view) is opened on start of blender,
keyboard is frozen = no more shortcuts ...
To solve that :
You just pass on an other screen (compositing ?..etc) and you recover your keyboard.

An other possible cause of neutralization of keyboard:
To add a suspicious cause, i've COMODO antivirus which can confine softwares..
Also, today in RC3, blender.exe was blocked, even they put it in a virtual machine, my keyboard didn't worked !
.. So i totally de-activated this mode, and re-open BlenderRC3 which responded right with my keyboard.

NOTE: the last 2.80 ver had the same tricks .. but with no solution: even changing screen nor de-activating antivirus makes nothing.. i couldn't use may mouses-buttons .. my keyboard was blocked with only ALT key usable !
But the 2.81 ver corrects those problems ! BUT i lost my old config.. (i install blender in my own path) and can't get old recent files saved.. no matter i'll find them bck as projects.

Just use "blender_debug_log*.cmd" (* for any): all of those diag tools are ok to make blender be right again with my keyboard and mouse freeze.
