Blender Version
Broken: (2.80, release candidate)
Worked: never

Large scenes (>1-2 km) are incredibly slow in blender 2.8 compared to 2.79. I imagine the problem is because of two things: the lack of a LOD system, and texture rendering. It basically kills hope of making cinematic city scenes, landscape scenes, forest, etc. I've seen this problem on multiple computers running 2.8, so it doesn't seem to be a machine-dependent issue with processing.

Create a scene larger than 1km or 2km and set the clipping distance to about 2km. Add a few hundred thousand polygons to the scene. Add materials and textures. Watch Blender cry.
I used the Scenecity addon to great frustration, and you could likely reproduce it with that.

If you could attach an example scene to the report that would be quite helpful.

We'll work on improving handling of complex scenes (one of the tasks in T63728: Data, Assets & I/O Module).

However as a bug report this is not so useful, it's just an ongoing project and investigating performance of specific production scenes is outside the scope of the bug tracker.

Same issue. I have a platform is a thousand by a thousand feet. I have a super simple scene set up with scene city currently and oh god. I am using a grid city preset node thing at 200x200 cell size 20. It is wanting to die on me and it is not my memory and such. I am looking at it. About 20 percent across the board. I am only trying to cover a 852 foot by 852 foot area in the center of my project. It is impossible.
