Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: RTX2070 on Desktop also GTX1070MaxQ on Laptop

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 74), branch: master, commit date: 2019-07-18 14:52, hash: 38d4483c6a51, type: Release
Worked: (optional)

Tesselation appears weird in the sculpting workspace. Faces seem to have a gray shadow, it produces strong artifacts on the surface of the model. It doesnt show by manually changing to sculpt mode from layout tab.

Invoke SubD modifier on the default cube, subdivide 3 times and apply, change to sculpting tab, turn dyntopo on (relative detail set to 3) and sculpt. Cross-check with changing to object mode > layout tab > sculpt mode. Works fine. Please see the screenshots, the blendfile and the systeminfo attached.

Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

i don't think this is a bug, the cavity shading is enabled by default in the sculpting workspace, try to play with settings or turn it off if you don't want to see this effect.

Be sure to look at the pics if you havent. Looks odd to me. This was introduced around may or end of april not sure anymore. You also said I can turn it off, how?

Looks like a regular cavity map to me, you can disable it in Viewport Shading or change it to more traditional type

Yes thats true. Thanks for the pointer. I stumbled over the solution in a different thread while browsing.

This is a combination of two things, dyntopo supporting flat shading only and cavity being enabled.

At some point we should have smooth shading for dyntopo, for now it's not a bug.
