Blender Version
Blender 2.8 Release Candidate 2?

Short description of error
Blender fully crashes when switching from Sculpting to Layout workspace. Dynatopo was enabled all the times the crash occurred. I tried several times to reproduce the crash, it occurs when there is a certain amount of complexity in the mesh (for sure more than 100.000 vertices). I did not manage to check if the crash occurs only when Dynatopo is enabled or not.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open the default startup file, subdivide the cube 3-4 times and then go to the Sculpting workspace.
  2. Enable Dynatopo and sculpt to a certain amount of complexity.
  3. When returning to the "Layout" workspace, Blender crashes.
  4. The auto-saved file before the crash is corrupted and cannot be opened by Blender.

I apologize if the report is not proper enough, this is my first time reporting a bug. I hope it was of help.

Also, when using pie menu to change from sculpt to object, it also crashes.
Leaving a auto-saved file corrupted.

Can you try the current nightly build from https://builder.blender.org/download/ or RC3 when it's available?

I've been using the current nightly build that you said (July 24, 20:54:26 - bfe580642f46) for 15 minutes and got 0 crashes!
If it crashes again I will comment here.
Thanks for the fast fix!
