Description

I am really angry right now, because this happened to me since 2.8 beta. I thought it was a glitch, and I have to wait, but the first ever official release did the exact same thing to me.

I tried reading and finding answers here, but the chat and comment sections is incredibly unorganized foe me to read it. I'm using Windows 7.

You must have a OS/Computer/Graphic card that support OpenGL 3.3 or higher to run Blender 2.80

So what can I do to fix this? and how can I check what Graphics card versions I have without going through downloading random software that goes on trials and requires me to pay to use something I won't ever need?

Forgive me for being entitled, though.

Hardware Requirements
Minimum

32-bit dual core 2Ghz CPU with SSE2 support
4 GB RAM
1280×768 display
Mouse, trackpad or pen tablet
Graphics card with 1 GB RAM, OpenGL 3.3

Recommended

64-bit quad core CPU
16 GB RAM
Full HD display
Three button mouse
Graphics card with 4 GB RAM

Optimal

64-bit eight core CPU
32 GB RAM
Full HD displays
Three button mouse and pen tablet
Graphics card with +12 GB RAM

Supported Graphics Cards

These requirements are for basic Blender operation, rendering using the GPU requires slightly different requirements. Always make sure to install the latest drivers from the graphics card manufacturer website.

NVIDIA: Tesla architecture and newer, with NVIDIA drivers (list of all GeForce and Quadro GPUs)
AMD: GCN 1st gen and newer (list of all AMD GPUs)
Intel: Haswell and newer (list of all Intel GPUs)
macOS: version 10.12 or newer with supported hardware

Ok, so how do I check what machine and hardware I have?

Tommy Hjalmarsson (hjalle) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 3:33 AM

If you for example have a i5 intel CPU with 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller you can't probably not run 2.80 on Window 7-10. Microsoft is terrible on update OpenGL for their user.
The same hardware spec mentioned above, but on Linux will work. A new Linux distro ( hardware spec mentioned above ) will use OpenGL 3 fully supported, 'and' OpenGL 4.2 not fully supported, and 2.80 will run.
Linux is free.
This is not Linux gospel, it's fact.

I found it, by right clicking "[My] Computer" and select Properties:

Model: TOSHIBA LX835
Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU@2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 6.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

The easiest way to get the full information is to run Blender 2.79, and use Help > Save System Info.

The information above does not contain the graphics card or graphics driver version.

Easter (DocWaluigean) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 3:46 AM

I found it, but not sure if .txt files are allowed.

OpenGL:

renderer: 'Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000'
vendor: 'Intel'
version: '3.3.0 - Build 8.15.10.2712'

Tommy Hjalmarsson (hjalle) added a comment.EditedJul 31 2019, 4:07 AM

Your .txt files, I was able to read it.

From your text file:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz

OpenGL:

renderer: 'Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000'
vendor: 'Intel'
version: '3.3.0 - Build 8.15.10.2712'

Your hardware should be able to run Blender 2.80.

That's the best news. So what can I do to fix this issues?

Tommy Hjalmarsson (hjalle) added a comment.EditedJul 31 2019, 4:34 AM

I run Linux, so you must ask some Windows user. Sorry.

Eitan Traurig (EitanSomething) added a subscriber: Eitan Traurig (EitanSomething).Jul 31 2019, 4:43 AM

This is probably driver related and you need to update your intel drivers to the latest version

Easter (DocWaluigean) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 4:49 AM

How do I update Intel Drivers?

Eitan Traurig (EitanSomething) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 4:55 AM

Open Device manager. Expand display adapters. Right click on Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. Click on update drivers software. Click on search automatically for drivers ... You should now have the latest drivers and blender should work

Easter (DocWaluigean) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 5:10 AM

This is the result in attempting to update. I tried it 3 times.

Ray Molenkamp (LazyDodo) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 2:38 PM

you go to the toshiba website, and look for support for the device you bought, they generally offer driver updates specialized for their hardware on the website.

Sybren A. Stüvel (sybren) added a subscriber: Sybren A. Stüvel (sybren).Jul 31 2019, 3:17 PM

Isn't this just a case of unsupported hardware? The Intel HD 4000 GPU is from the Ivy Bridge generation, which is older than the minimum requirement of Haswell.

Easter (DocWaluigean) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 6:57 PM

I checked the Toshiba website, and all I see is bragging and job applications... http://www.toshiba.com/tai/

According to "Computer > Properties", the model is TOSHIBA LX835. Do I have to put that in "Enter Model or Serial Number" ?

Invalid Entry. Please check that your product is from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Latin America and try again.

If your product is from Europe, Middle East or Africa click here

You can also enter in the first part of your product model name to find common drivers and updates (example Z30-C, Z40-C)

Eitan Traurig (EitanSomething) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 7:41 PM

Try the serial number

Easter (DocWaluigean) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 7:43 PM

Where do I find my serial number: in real life PC, or by "My Computer" situations?

Easter (DocWaluigean) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 7:54 PM

My model number is 9C251707Q

So what do I choose? I have to be questionable on all of this because I'm bring really careful that I do not want to mess up my PC permanently.

Eitan Traurig (EitanSomething) added a comment.Jul 31 2019, 7:57 PM

Serial number not model number

https://support.dynabook.com/support/modelHome?freeText=3386631&osId=3333616

lists an 8.17 driver, he's currently on 8.15 , may just be enough to get him there.

however as someone pointed out earlier, our requirements are haswell and up, we don't support ivy bridge and the amount of time sunk into this ticket is getting somewhat unreasonable for an unsupported system, so sadly i'm going to have to close it.
