Just to make sure: have you tried upgrading your GPU drivers [not sure which ones you use atm?]?

Drivers are up to date, 19.5.2, it's not a GPU issue, the graphics card works perfectly, only the sculpt mode bugs out on solid object view. After trying to figure out what causes it, noticed - blender 2.8 bugs out all the files from 2.79 in a random way. When I copied the skull with teeth and continued sculpting from a new start up from 2.80, no artifacts. But the thing is, I have the whole skeleton there with lots of bones and copying all that on a new workspace will be a pain in the butt. Also, one from other projects got all the brushes reversed, hidden layers sometimes have objects that can't be viewed. 2.80 is not fully compatible with previous version projects. Major letdown.

Oki, thx for getting back.

Lets stick to one issue per report [so for the reversed brushes, hidden layers etc. issues, please open separate reports for these].

  • Could you share the .blend from 2.79 that shows the issue?
  • I understand correctly: copying the meshes from 2.79 and pasting into 2.8 doesnt show the issue, right?

(but we need the file to reproduce...)

I've removed everything from the project file and left only the teeth modeling setup (can't show the whole project), has the artifacts still, that should suffice nicely. As soon as I try to sculpt it starts to artifact. And trying with Cntrl + Space and Cntrl + Alt + Space, gives different artifact results. Definitely a viewport issue.
Edit: Switching from Look Dev to Solid View artifacts also.

Here's one more screenshot with it:

And yes, that is correct, objects copied to a new fresh start up workplace do not show any artifacts.

Hm, no artifacts here [linux, 970m, 430.26 drivers]

shots in the dark:

  • does this also bug out without (mirror) modifiers?
  • does this also bug out in perspective view [no ortho]? (with the view clipping set to 0.001 m -- 5 m)
  • you were mentioning solid: does this also bug out in lookdev? (or in solid without random colors?)

Have put Ubuntu 18.04 on second ssd for dual boot, and it looks like it's Windows 10 issue. It doesn't artifact on linux. Will test out more with modifiers and lookdev.
