Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: NVIdia Quadro M4000 (2x)

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 all Versions since i started tests - 2.79 Dayli Builds (i think it came with support of rendering GPU and CPU together)
Worked: 2.79b official

Short description of error
Rendering with Cycles and both GPU's activated stopped Blender GUI without a message

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Just render a Scene with some Objects - GUI will disappear during rendering or shortly after the rendering. Rendering same Scene without GUI works fine and fast.

I somehow doubt that you mean Blender 1.8, which was released in year 2000, 19 years ago. Especially since it didn't include Cycles at all.

@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) might know more here? Not sure we have that kind of config here to test it though...

In the mean time, please ensure that your drivers are fully up to date, and please try to start blender from a console with --debug-cycles option, and report here any error you should get.

Hi,

strange.. starting "blender --debug-cycles" Blender disappears again and the last i saw in the console window was "CUDA ERROR".
Then i used
"blender --debug-cycles --python-expr "import bpy; bpy.ops.wm.sysinfo(filepath=r'%temp%\blender\debug_logs\blender_system_info.txt')" > "%temp%\blender\debug_logs\blender_debug_output.txt" 2>&1 < %0 "
rendered withou an error...
I will do further testing, in the meantime her are the logs.

Ok, got it now - first rendering needed about 4 minutes (in debug mode, against ca. 40 seconds without) and completed,
then 2nd try with render write still finished with a cuda error - seems to be something like an timing issue - btw rendering in GUI with only one GPU aktivated works fine.

@Rainer Osselmann (RainerO) Is this still an issue with latest build? https://builder.blender.org/download/

Hi,

1st Test with V 2.8.2: Rendering with 2 GPU on an existing Blend file works – but after rendering in File Menu “Search Missing Files” Blender disappears.

Just to clarify, if I understood correctly:

  • You can render provided file with 2 GPU's
  • Then you click on File > Search Missing Files
  • Blender UI dissapears (it is still running in task manager)

Is that correct?

Not realy - Blender was not in Taskmanager any longer

Now i did a 2nd test - rendering "freezes" at 11 from 12 tiles,(in Render Window) but time goes on - clicking "X" in Renderwindow also kills Blender ( not in Taskmanager any longer).
I'll try again :-)

So - now i did Find missing Files 1rst, than saved the Blendfile and rendered several times with different samples - works fine :-)
