Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 1903
Graphics card: 1080

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 release

Short description of error
Even if you set a material to 1.0 alpha, it becomes transparent when Alpha Blend blend mode is selected.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
See description. There might be a technical reason for this, but from a user perspective, alpha 1.0 should never have any transparency whatsoever.

If there is a hard technical limitation, I would suggesting removing the "blend mode" option altogether, and just handling setting the different modes behind the scenes automatically (which should be the case anyway for blend modes).

You forgot to upload a simplest possible .blend file to reproduce this issue and file generated from Help > Save System Info as request in Bug template

The operating system, main memory size, GPU brand and model, GPU driver version and Blender hash or its build date may be needed by developers to investigate this issue

Update your GPU drivers from Nvidia support site can solve/mitigate this problem

thank you

This is also related to the sorting problem, see https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/render/eevee/materials/settings.html#sorting-problem.
Similar as mentioned in T68956.
Not sure why you would use an Alpha Blend mode if you want Alpha=1.0?
But I have seen this reported before tbh.
I assume determining the overall Alpha in a (complex) shader tree could be quite a hassle, so doing this "behind the scenes" might not be considered atm.
So to me this doesnt look like a bug.

@Clément Foucault (fclem): last time asking (promise!): all of these Alpha Blend Sorting reports can be closed, right?

Clément Foucault (fclem) claimed this task.

Yes, determining automatically can be tricky and not error free. Also we still have multiple alpha blend mode available. That said, removing the opaque is under consideration.

If the problem is really what @Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) is describing then we can close the report. If it's another thing, we can reopen.
