Blender crush after knife project operation while selecting part of the mesh.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Select the curve, then the cube.
Enter edit mode and use knife project.
Hover the mouse over the cube and use L button to select.

This issue has been fixed by D5536 and the same bug was reported in T68852.
