In your first UV editor there's an empty 'Render Result' open. Delete it and UV will become visible.

Perhaps 'Render Result' should not be available in UV editor at all since 'UV Editor' has been separated from an 'Image Editor'?

Thx again @Marcin Twarowski (Tvaroog) investigating here.

It is not clear to me how the UV Editor got to the point of showing the (empty) render result [and I cannot reproduce this by provided steps in latest 2.81 build]:

  • What is your setting for Preferences > Interface > Editors > Temporary Windows > Render In?
  • Does this happen with File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings as well?

Perhaps 'Render Result' should not be available in UV editor at all since 'UV Editor' has been separated from an 'Image Editor'?

Maybe, but maybe there are also exotic situations where you want this available? [camera projected stuff or similar?]

Anyways, will wait for the answers to above questions, @Claus Bohm (clausbohm) .

Right now there's no way to overlay UV over a 'Render Result' so it seems a bit pointless.
