The differential for this change is D7410 and has been committed in rBfd10ac9acaa0788ef5e73677a97e5cff27978d0c. It is also mentioned in the release notes of Blender 2.90.

Issue still exists 2.91.2 Please address

Never mind... looks like it has been addressed, but apparently there is another related issue, in that upgrading and coping users settings over does not cover the "Interface > Status Bar > Scene Statistics" setting. Also worth noting that when I installed 2.91.2 from 2.83 and was not prompted to copy user settings/plugins/etc over to new version automatically, leaving me to do that manually.

@Chris Ellerby (VexFX) that issue would be unrelated to what is discussed in this ticket. Please create a separate ticket for this, should the problem occur in the daily builds of Blender 2.92.
