Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 376.54

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.90 (sub 0), branch: master, commit date: 2020-05-01 14:06, hash: rB60741cfe181c
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected) Blender 2.83 i guest

Short description of error
Sculpt mode: layer brush height info circle is too distracting

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Set factory settings
  • sculpt mode and pick the layer brush
  • with default settings it looks good
  • Now reduce the strength and increase the height

Notice how all those circles around the brush this is just too much information on the user's face and height circle isn't giving any good interpretation of usability of the feature. The height that the brush will affect is from the surface of the mesh upward on the normal direction but we are seeing a circle that is around another circle.
check the pic below

My suggestion is to remove height circle or put it as option if someone wants to see then he can activate it.

Dude, please don't just close thread like this. This is bug, in earlier version of Blender we didn't have this feature. Now we are in phase where people should test the tool and give feedback about a new feature ( note that this feature doesn't have a design task, correct me if i m wrong). Please be practical, tell me how or where one should give a feedback of a new feature when the feature didn't have a design task? Please @Dalai Felinto (dfelinto) can help here?

The height circle is displaced on the normal direction compared to the position of the original surface normal, it is not around the other circle. We will add more options to tweak the cursor (this one and all the other tools that use custom previews) after reorganizing the interface. So this is a request for modified/improved behavior and not a bug in current behavior.
