Short description of error

Note: The following problem was also present in version 2.82a

The selection of edge(s) or face(s) is not highlighted in "Edit Mode".

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blender version 2.9Alpha or 2.82a.
Add mesh cube object.
Switch to edit mode. Box select the entire object or at least two vertices.
Switch between vertex, edge and face selection mode.
In versions higher than 2.81a, neither the selected edges or faces are highlighted in edit mode.
