Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R5 M335

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.83.1, branch: master, commit date: 2020-06-25 09:47, hash: 8289fc688b3e, type: Release build date: 2020-06-25, 08:30:56
Worked: version: 2.80 (sub 75), branch: master, commit date: 2019-07-29 14:47, hash: f6cb5f54494e, type: build date: 2019-07-29, 09:44 AM

Short description of error
When the Hair Shape Type is set to Strip instead of Strand, Hair Particles disappear in the Viewport and also Do Not show in the Renders. The Hair Shape Type Option is located in the Render Properties Tab when EEVEE is selected as the render engine. It functions correctly in Blender version 2.80 but not later versions. I have checked multiple versions from 2.81 to 2.83.1, but they seem to have this problem. Thank You for reviewing my bug report.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I have attached an image showing the result when Strand is selected as the Hair Shape Type and Also when Strip is selected. Thank You

1- Create a plane.
2- Add Hair Particle System.
3- Navigate to Render Properties Tab
4- Under Hair menu, select Strip for the Hair Shape Type
5- The hair particles disappear.
6- Render Image, Hair particles do not show in render

Thank You.

i feel dumb, i had this exact same problem, had the exact same graphics card, and the exact same issues as in this post: it used to work for me in 2.8 but no longer after 2.81, all i had to do to fix this for good, was to update my graphics card but i never thought of it until i read about it here, thank u all! i appreciate what u do.

edit:
and i guess yes, resolved.

So please check (and report back) if upgrading your GPU drivers helps, see here for more information: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html

Thank You for replying. It works on Fedora, but in Windows I have updated both the intel and dedicated graphics drivers, but the problem still persists. The problem may be with my installation of windows. Thank You for the information, I know that it is probably a problem that may be exclusive to me so I will see if changing any settings or resetting my windows will work.

The problem is fixed. Thank You for your help. Updating drivers from Dell's website doesn't work, nor updating from Device Manager. But updating from AMDs website does. The drivers and software they provide work perfectly. I feel silly for posting this problem and taking up your time. But honestly, Thanks for your advice!! I'll be sure to go through these steps before posting any future potential bug I may find.
