Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 451.67

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.91.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2020-08-05 22:29, hash: rB675700d94892
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
In 2.83 we had the access to realtime motion blur with Eevee (which was limited to camera deformation).
In 2.90 and above this was replaced with a new motion blur system that is render only.
Eevee is amazing for having realtime screen space reflections, ambient occlusion, depth of field and motion blur, which made it perfect for screen capture or viewport rendering an animation without excessive time consumption.
I was wondering wether this is a decision or a bug, since having the camera deformation motion blur back in the viewport would allow for the same realtime rendering results as in 2.83

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Go to camera view
  • move the camera around

Iin 2.90 and above and youll see any motion blur previously existent in 2.83 is gone.

My question rather is wether it is possible to reimplement the previous motion blur in the viewport for the viewport only.

Cheers,
Antonio

There are technical limitations to this.
The previous solution used a hack and was very limited.
Motion blur in the viewport is no longer possible with the new system.

Developers are aware of this limitation and, if it is a possible implementation, it can change when they revisit this area.
