According to the crash log you / Blender tried to load a *.BMP image as a thumbnail that resulted in a crash. If you're able to figure out which file this was, could you upload it please?

Keal init (Kealinit) added a comment.Dec 2 2020, 5:12 PM

at first it crashed when I tried uploading a video clip, never got to click on the video to upload it, it crash before hand.
Then it wont even let me get to the load screen, it crashes as sson as I click the video editor tab.
So It has nothing to do with the video files.

@Keal init (Kealinit) Does this only happen with the file where you previously tried to load the video or is this always the case? Could you also please add a crash log for when it crashes in the splash screen when switching the workspace?

@Keal init (Kealinit) I meant the C:\Users\pablo\AppData\Local\Temp\blender.crash.txt in case the content is different to the crash when you've attempted to load the video file and when the crash happens during the switch to the other workspace.

Could you please check if you have any *.BMP files located in C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\?

Got a couple of bmps in my documents

@Keal init (Kealinit) Please move all *.bmp temporarily to a different folder. One of them causes a crash in the preview. Ideally, you would move them back into the folder one by one and check after every image moved back into Documents if Blender crashes. Once you've identified the problematic *.bmp it would be great if you could share it. Since this problem started recently, I would suggest you begin with the newest *.bmp files first.

You fixed it!! I dont know which one it was, cuz I moved them all. But it worked. Ill start moving them back latr and will let you know which it was. Thank you.

This is likely the same issue as T71960. If you don't want to go through them one by one I can merge the tickets. It would be helpful to have the problematic file to check if the proposed patch that is being worked on handles it correctly though.
