Description

System Information
Operating system: windows10
Graphics card: GTX 1080

Blender Version
Broken: 2.90.0 LTS
Worked:

Objects animation keys/curves disappear when sliding keys in editor. Keys when moved aren't synced to objects actual animation. Impossible to get objects visibility back without adding another visibility key.

Create box
Set visibility key
Move timeline slider
Set another visibility key
Select all keys
Slide keys to different location in timeline where object visibility turns off
Select box
Animation keys show
Scrub timeline
Box disappears out of sync (also for any other animation keys ie. transform)
Select box
Slide keys to different location on timeline
Scrub timeline

Not totally sure I understand correctly:

  • title says dope/graph editors, but file/video is about timeline?
  • for dope/graph editors, you can include hidden objects:

(with the limitation of T68313: Dopesheet Display Hidden doesn't work property combined with Only Selected.)

So could we have clarificytion if this is a bout dopesheet graph editor (or about the timeline)?

It's the same in the dope sheet and graph.

To me the issue is in the way Blender currently works: the objects gets deselected when it becomes invisible. Actually, this invisible = not selectable behavior in Blender causes a lot of issues, like preventing batch managing hidden objects, but that's another topic.

Here the only way around is to disable "Only show selected" and enable "show hidden". But that's not normal to be forced to show all your scene's keys because of that, and is totally unpractical in production when just one character can have several hundred controllers. And this is impossible in the timeline.

Ok here's a video using both Dope Sheet and Graph Editor. Seems to be the same problem. Also trying numerous 'Show Hidden' and 'Sync Visible Range' options to no avail.
Only way to release visibility is to apply another visibility key.
Thanks

This really is the same as T68313: Dopesheet Display Hidden doesn't work property combined with Only Selected. then, right?

I will merge these reports, lets continue discussion there (but of course feel free to comment again if this is a misunderstanding)
