Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When changing font with +Alt, it doesn't batch change the selection. And in the right click menu on font to 'Copy to Selected', it is disabled.
This means that it is impossible to batch change font on ex. Text objects and Text strips.

I know this could sound like a feature request, but @Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) asked me to make a bug report: https://blender.chat/channel/vse?msg=9BhkhL8GJzacMtaj8 I guess you could say that this is inconsistent behaviour, that it is possible to batch change most values/settings this way, but not the font.

Just to make this really clear:

  • Which property are we talking about? the ID selector? (the Copy To Selected is not in there at all)
  • Bold etc? (these are working for me)

note that for the Font itself (the ID), we have Ctrl+L

Willing to look into this, just not sure which property we are talking about.

For text objects:

  • Add two text objects
  • Select them both
  • In the sidebar open a font
  • Right click on the font name
  • The context menu shows "Copy to Selected" as disabled.

(I know there is a work around for text object to link the font, but it is a workaround, something which "should" work, and you can't use this workaround this for text strips)

For Text strips:

  • Add two text strips.
  • Select them both.
  • Open a font.
  • Right click on the font name.
  • The context menu shows "Copy to Selected" as disabled.

That Field in the Font selector actually displays the name of the font ID (so it is a property not of some strip or text object, it is a property of the Font).
This wont work (actually I am not sure why names are editable in this case at all -- but that is a different story).

It would be the same as trying to Copy to Selected the Material from the name field here

Talked to @Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) in chat and using the Font name field is not going to work.
What we could keep as a TODO though is making the ID selector (template_ID) work for Copy To Selected

I will make a new task for this though (since it will have a broader scope) and close this one.

Hi, I recently ran into this issue and have to change about 100 text boxes. Any progress on this?

I tried Ctrl-L and it selects all the textboxes in the channel, however, changing the font still changes just one.
