Values change when applying scale to object

Hi, thanks for the report. Apply scale works for me on master and 3.0.0 beta

Values change when applying scale to object

Exact issue is still not clear. Can you please clarify? Applying scale will set the value to one: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/scene_layout/object/editing/apply.html

(For help using Blender, please try one of the community websites: https://www.blender.org/community/)

Repro steps / description are unclear.

The object in the example .blend file already has scale applied?
What values changed here? the influence of the texture?

Please try to explain in more detail and/or provide the .blend file before applying scale.

Hi John, I could not see any issue with unit conversion as said in T93157
(1 Foot = 12Inches no?)

May be I am trying to reproduce in wrong way?

  1. Scale along X
  2. Apply Scale
  3. Change unit from InchesFeet

Repro steps / description are unclear

As Philipp said, reproducing steps are bit unclear :)

Notice the three images below

After the input is applied the dimensions are not as desired. Moreover, The abberation seems random

Instead of 1'2", 1'2.4" given. This is the conversion error I perceive.

This is because the displace modifiers use local coordinates to fetch values from the texture.
This leads to a different shape when applying the non-unit scaling and thus you get slightly different resulting dimensions.

If you let the displace modifiers use global coordinates, the result after applying scale is the same as before and dimensions wont change.
This does not look like a bug to me, will close (thx reporting anyways and feel free to comment again if issues persist).
