Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22000-SP0 64 Bits This is what Blender says even though I'm running Windows 11 21H2
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 5600M ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.14761 Core Profile Context 21.11.2 30.0.13033.5003

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0 Beta, branch: master, commit date: 2021-11-15 19:28, hash: rBa040d2a93a7d
Worked: 2.93.0 I haven't tried any newer version since 2.93.0 came out except 3.0

Short description of error
Every time I start the render using Cycles and HIP as a renderer, blender crashes. The viewport display is totally inaccurate, showing black and white shapes instead of the project. That does not happen when using Evee.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create a new project, go into settings, select HIP and my graphics card, go into the project (default cube with metal texture on it with a sun, a simple textured plane and a camera, no HDRI), select Cycles and GPU compute, press F12 and then blender crashes.
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

Are you telling me only 6000 gen amd cards can run cycles X ? Thats very disapointing...

Have you installed the driver, I linked you to?

It works on RNDA and RDNA2 cards. https://code.blender.org/2021/11/next-level-support-for-amd-gpus/

If it works after installing that driver, this can be considered a duplicate of T93109: Cycles HIP device missing driver version check.

Compatibility: Cycles X in Blender 3.0 is enabled on AMD RDNA™ architecture graphics cards and up, and support has been validated by AMD on the following desktop graphics cards:

AMD Radeon™ PRO W6800
AMD Radeon™ 6900 XT
AMD Radeon™ 6800 XT
AMD Radeon™ 6800
AMD Radeon™ 6700 XT
AMD Radeon™ 6600 XT
AMD Radeon™ 6600

Mine is a laptop GPU and it is not listed. I can't even install the drivers : When launching the exe download, I get this message : This app can't run on your PC. To find a compatible version, please contact the developers.

In that case this is a driver limitation and unfortunately nothing we can fix. It works on desktop RDNA cards though (I run a 5500 XT myself), so your card might be added in the future.
