Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with Max-Q Design/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 472.47

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-12-02 18:35, hash: rBf1cca3055776
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
In case the rendered image is to large and rendered with tiles, and the end of last tile the image disappears, and cannot be saved anymore

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Load the default cube, switch to cycles, and GPU processing. In "output properties", "Format" select "%" and set it to 400%. Then render (F12)
The image is rendered using tiles (12 in my case)
After the last tile, the image disappears.
On the consol log there are a bunch of error like:

E0102 10:15:30.189354 14820 tile.cpp:468] Error opening tile file: Could not open "C:\Windows\Temp\blender_a21072\cycles-tile-buffer-9540-1314889624184-102-0.exr" (No such file or directory)
Error writing tile to file

Hi, thanks for the report. Did you change the Temporary Files directory from preferences?
Are you able to reproduce with factory preferences?: EditPreferencesSave & Load (3 horizontal lines)Load Factory preferences

Similar issue got reported recently (probably the same case for you): T93727: Changing temporary directory results in errors with tiles while rendering in Cycles

I did not change anything recently, but I normally inherit settings from previous Blender versions, and indeed originally (V2.7xxx) I changed the temp folder to "C:\Windows\Temp".
Probably this folder now have access restrictions and causes the problem.
I changed now to "C:\Users\<user>\temp" and seems to work ok.
Thank you.

By the way, I don't know if this is related, but when I first tried to change the default Temp folder I first right clicked on the field and then "return to default settings".
At that point Blender badly chrashed and I coudn't restart it until a new PC reboot.
I eventually continue to investigate, and open a new task in case.

Thanks for the good job
Regards.

Hi, I would suggest to submit a fresh report for it

Probably this folder now have access restrictions and causes the problem.

Don't think there are restrictions for any specific folder. Try to save preferences after changing the temp file path, then reload blender. This won't give you any error when rendering with tiles.

Does that work for you?
