Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
3D mouse: 3Dconnexion Spacemouse Pro

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 3.0

Short description of error
When entering Walk/Fly mode, the tilt (rotation) navigation with a 3dmouse is reversed. I also had an instance where panning was reversed, so please check whether this occurs as well to make sure the regular navigation is respected.

Diagnosing the issue is simplified by adding the following entry to the View3d Walk/ Fly Modal:

By doing so, it becomes easier to see changed navigation behaviour, since it forces the walk/fly mode to navigate as though it is the 3d view, so both behaviours are similar.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Activate a 3d mouse with the following settings regarding the axis of movement.

  1. Go to View > Navigation > Walk navigation
  2. Notice that the axis are reversed between the regular 3d navigation and walk/ fly navigation.

The sequence for both videos are:

  1. Left> right, right > left
  2. Up> down, down>up
  3. Backward> forward, forward > backward
  4. Spin CCW, Spin CW
  5. Tilt foward > Tilt backward
  6. Tilt left > tilt right

Since lock horizon is activated Tilting left/ right has no effect, so the 6th motion should be ignored here.

Walk navigation with 3dmouse

Wish/ feature request

I think it would be a good idea to have an option to use the 3d mouse instead of WASD to move with, rather than look around with, as this is more easily done with a mouse, whereas movement gets more fine grained control from a 3d mouse. This could be as simple as adding the Modal entry for NDOF dominant, however, it does not allow me to specify that up/down becomes jump or that tilting forward/backward is disabled, so you can look around with the mouse. That is because the axes for up/down, left/right cannot be specified for motion.

Not quite sure if I understand this report, is the behavior incorrect with default settings in Blender and 3D mouse configuration?

Yes, that was the case, but now it appears to be working as expected again, so I closed the report.
