Description

System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.13.0-30-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.31 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 470.103.01

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.7, branch: master, commit date: 2021-12-14 16:35, hash: rBa5b7f9dc9011

Short description of error
Overriden mesh data (model), but local object, to use armature and vertex groups is not deformed by the Armature modifier.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Unzip , you get model and rig
  • Open rig
  • The mesh is not deformed when it must because of the Armature modifier

*NB: If the Cube object is parented to the Armature it suddenly works*

Has this ever worked differently before?
From SpreadSheet, all vertices Bone weights are 0.0, so it doesn't influence even if the group exists.

Is there anything missing from the report? Because I don't see a bug.

In fact that's because weights and vertex groups are not saved on overridden library objects. Shall I open a new issue for that or update this one?

This is a known issue when the linked file is saved in a pre 3.0 version. Already reported in T93778: Blender 3.0 doesn't save vertex groups from linked objects.
