Description

System Information
Operating system: macOS-12.2-arm64-arm-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Apple M1 Apple 4.1 Metal - 76.3

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.1.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-03-08 18:16, hash: rBc77597cd0e15
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
The image editor commands (Invert, Resize, Flip) are not working properly.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Create a new blender document
  • Change the 3D viewport to "image editor"
  • Change editing context to "Paint"
  • Go to the image menu -> New -> leave to defaults settings and click OK
  • Draw a random stroke with the default white brush to have something on screen
  • Go to Image menu -> Select any command like Invert red channel, Flip Horizontally, or resize to 512x512
  • NOTHING HAPPENS
  • But if you click on the image to add another paint stroke, some areas of the image will finally update with glitchy artifacts.

The image editor commands (Invert, Resize, Flip) are not working properly.

These issues have been reported in T96323: Regression: Invert colour is not reflected in the image viewer until a UI change T96324: Regression: Resizing an image is not correctly reflected in the image editor until the UI is updated T96312: Regression: Image Editor Flip option isn't working

The fixes for those reports will most likely fix the issue with the "glitchy artifacts" you talk about in your report. As such I will archive this report as there are already reports for this issue.
