Short description of error
After selecting faces with the Select Circle tool I cannot use the translate gizmo to move the selected faces.

  1. Make sure using the Industry Compatible keymap
  2. Select the default cube
  3. Go into edit mode
  4. Switch with Q to the Circle Tool
  5. Select some faces or vertices
  6. Active the Move gizmo and try to use it

I cannot reproduce this with either the latest stable or current development versions of Blender:

Please try the latest daily build: https://builder.blender.org/download/

Go to File โ†’ Defaults โ†’ Load Factory Settings and then load your file to see if you still can reproduce this issue.

If the problem persists, please give us more clear instructions on how to reproduce it from scratch.

The version I tested this time: 3.1.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-03-08 18:16, hash: rBc77597cd0e15

And I reset all keymaps to factory settings and I still get the same result.

  1. I change to the industry compatible settings.
  2. Select the default cube
  3. Go into the edit mode
  4. Switch with Q to the Circle Tool
  5. Select a vertex
  6. Try to use the translate gizmo to move the vertex

I can confirm now.
My mistake was using the Viewport Gizmo instead of selecting the move tool.
The problem already seems to be fixed in the last daily build, but the solution doesn't seem to be listed for backporting (T96241: 3.1: Potential candidates for corrective releases).
@Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) I noticed you recently worked on the select code, is this related? Can the solution be backported?

For reference, this broke: rBb0847eff2a29b0f2ba3263afc3f367011703df84 and started working again rB4986f718482b061082936f1f6aa13929741093a2 which is too large a change to apply as a bug-fix, continuing to look into a fix.

Fix: P2842 this isn't needed for master though.

So, this is fixed in master now and a fix will also be in the 3.1.1 corrective release [which will probably be out next Wednesday].
Not much more we can do here, will close as resolved then.
