It keeps closing on me.

I open my blend file and when I go into edit mode then wireframe and try to select with b or my mouse it closes.

Can't reproduce, but the version you are using appears to be a month old daily build of blender, please try with the latest official or a recent daily

Crash is already fixed in latest 3.2 build and 3.1 corrective release. See: T96344: GPU subdivision: Crash on select in Edit Mode with X-Ray on and Mirror Modifier
So as LazyDodo suggested, try latest builds
