Short description of error
When you use the remesh modifier after a geometry nodes(GN) modifier where the GN is made from a primitive and a material is set on it, the remesh modifier will not keep the set material, instead it will revert to the default material.
Also, interestingly enough it only happens when material is set on a geometry node primitive. And the material is kept when the original input geometry is fed through the geometry node modifier.
(there is a work around to make a GN after the remesh modifier, however is impractical. And I don't know if doing this is how it was intended to work)
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open attached blend file
turn on and off the remesh modifier visibility in the viewport
