From the commit message:

Correct trim for cyclical curves mentioned in T101379, splitting the
curves if the start/endpoint is at the 'loop point'.

But since this was only intended for cyclic curves, I assume this is not an intended change in behavior in this case @Hans Goudey (HooglyBoogly) ?
